Uttarakhand
The hilly state of Uttarakhand has its capital at Dehradun. It is well-known for its hill stations, such as Mussoorie, Dehradun, Almora, Nainital etc. A large number of people visit its holy places which include Kedarnath, Badrinath, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The locals are known for their hardworking nature, with farming being their primary occupation. They cultivate crops like wheat, barley, maize, along with a variety of fruits and vegetables. Many also serve in the defense forces. Hindi and Pahari are the commonly spoken languages. The region celebrates several renowned festivals, including Diwali, Dussehra, and Holi.
