Properties of Division
Property – 1
When 0 is divided by any number, the quotient is 0.
For example:
0 ÷ 15 = 0
Property – 2
Division by 0 is meaningless.
For example:
13 ÷ 0 is meaningless
Property – 3
When a number is divided by 1, the quotient is the number itself.
For example:
16 ÷ 1 = 16
Property –4
When a number is divided by itself, the quotient is 1.
For example:
53 ÷ 53 = 1
Some other Properties
Division by 10, 100 and 1000
When a number is divided by 1000, the digits at the hundreds, tens and ones places make up the remainder and rest of the digits make up the quotient.
For example: 5874 ÷ 1000 Q = 5, R = 874
