Introduction Our body needs food and water for several things. It needs food and water to be healthy and to make us grow. Food and water are also needed to protect us from illness. Food items like cereals, sugar, potatoes, butter and sweets give us energy.With the help of energy, we do our daily work like walking, running, etc. The food which gives energy is called energy giving food.
Body Building Food Food items like pulses, milk, paneer, curd, peas, eggs, fish, meat etc., help us to grow taller, stronger and active. These foods are named as body building food. They help to build bones and muscles.
Protective Food
Food items like fruits and vegetables protect us from diseases and keep us healthy. Thus these foods are called protective foods. We must eat a little of all of these every day to be healthy. People who eat only fruits, vegetables, cereals and pulses are called vegetarians.
People who eat fish, egg and meat along with fruits, vegetables, cereals and pulses are called non-vegetarians.

We should eat all types of food to keep us healthy. We should also take plenty of water to stay fit and healthy. Our body gets water from the water we drink. We also get it from the food we eat such as milk, curd, juice, and fruits. Our body needs at least six to eight glasses of water every day. To be a strong and healthy adult, we should eat healthy food and take plenty of water.
We should also practice good eating habits.

Eat salads.
