Our Earth
The only planet which we can touch is our earth. Earth, our home, is the third planet from the sun. It is the only planet known to have an atmosphere containing free oxygen, oceans of liquid water on its surface, and of course, life. The shape of the earth is like an orange. It is made of land and water. Roughly 71 percent of earth’s surface is covered by water, most of it in the oceans. About a fifth of earth’s atmosphere is made up of oxygen, which is produced by the plants.
Natural Things
The surface of the earth is divided into two parts – land and water. A model of the Earth is called a globe.
Hills, valleys, mountains, plateaus and plains are the different landforms. The different water bodies are lakes, ponds, rivers, seas and oceans. The landforms and the water bodies are called natural things.
The areas which are completely covered with green trees are known as forests. Nature has provided us many things including living and as well as non-living things. Plants, animals, birds, fish and human beings are natural things. Certain non-living things like mountains, rivers, clouds, rain are also natural. These things are the gifts of nature. Remember, we cannot make these things ourselves.
