India was making a great progress in science in the ancient times. During the medieval times, this progress was shelved because of invaders. In ancient times, many scientists worked to unfold the mysteries of nature and make our life easy. India has given the concept of the zero, the digits from 1 to 9 and the decimal system to the world. The Ayurvedic system of medicine was created by the Indian medicine men. Charaka and Sushruta were famous physicians of the ancient period. Aryabhatta and Varahimihira were famous astronomers. We find their calculations correct even now. Patanjali propounded the concepts of Yoga to keep healthy. It is followed even today by a large number of people around the world.
