MULTIPLES AND FACTORS
Difference Between Factors and Multiples
The difference between factors and multiples are given here in tabular form. Go through the below table to understand the difference between them.
Relationship between Multiples and Factors
Connection: Multiples and factors are interconnected concepts in number theory
Example:
If 6 is a multiple of 3, then 3 is a factor of 6
6 = 3 × 2
Here, 2 is the integer multiplier
Commonality: Numbers can have multiple multiples and factors
For example,
6 has multiples like 12, 18 and factors like 2 and 3
Perfect number : The number in which sum of all factors is equal to twice the number is called a perfect number.
Illustration : The factors of ‘6’ are 1,2,3,6 1+2+3+6+=12 2 x 6 (twice of 6)
Ex : The factors of 28 are 1,2,4,7, 14,28
1+2+4+7+14+28= 56 = 2 (28)
Note : factors of 15 are 1,3,5,15
1+3+5+152 x 15
15 is not a perfect number
