Chemical Equations And Laws
Chemical equations:
A chemical change is represented by means of chemical equation by using various symbols and formulae. The substances which take part in the chemical change are called reactants. during the reaction the new substances formed in the chemical change are called products. The reactants are written on the left hand side of the arrow and the products are written on the right hand side of the arrow.
\(
H_2 + Cl_2 \xrightarrow{{}}HCl
\)
If you look carefully at the equation, the number of hydrogen atoms and chlorine atoms on the reactant side are two while on the product side is only 1. A chemical equation in which number of atoms of each element is same on the side of reactants and products is called balanced equation.
