National Goals of India
Introduction:National Goals
As a nation, we aim to achieve certain goals that will make our country strong, prosperous and happy. The Constitution of India, which is the supreme law of the land, guides us in this regard. It came into effect on 26th January 1950, marking the day when our country became a republic. We celebrate this day every year as Republic Day. The Constitution outlines our national goals, including sovereignty, democracy, socialism, and secularism. These goals are essential for our progress and development as a nation.
Sovereignty
Sovereignty means that our country has complete power to make laws and govern the country without any outside interference. India is a sovereign country.
Democracy
Democracy is a system of government in which people vote to elect their representatives who run the government on their behalf. In our country, all adult citizens above the age of 18 years vote and elect their representatives. These representatives run the government. Thus, our country is a democratic country.
Socialism
Socialism in India means that every citizen has an equal right to the country’s resources and wealth. Our country does not permit any kind of discrimination based on caste, religion, or gender, making it a socialist country. The government strives to uplift the underprivileged and bring them on par with the wealthy by providing equal opportunities and rights to all citizens.
Secularism
There are many religions in India. Any person is free to follow the religion of his choice. On this ground, no discrimination can take place. Secularism means that people of all religions are treated as equal, and there is no state religion.
