Perimeter
The perimeter of a figure is the total distance around all sides of the figures.
Look at this square.
Each side is 3 cm long.
What is the total length of the square?
3cm + 30m + 3cm + 3cm = 12cm
The total length of the square is 12 cm.
This is called the perimeter of the square.
To find the perimeter:
1) Look at the length of each side of the figure.
2) Add all the lengths.
Find the perimeter of the triangle
3cm + 3cm + 3cm = 9cm
The perimeter of triangle is 9 cm
Find the perimeter of the rectangle.
2cm + 2cm + 4cm + 4cm = 12cm
The perimeter of rectangle is 12 cm
Look at this square.
2cm + 2cm + 2cm + 2cm = 8cm
The perimeter of square is 8 cm
